Carole A. (DeFilippo) Mattuchio passed away at her home in Melrose, on Saturday, August 13, 2011. She was 68 years of age. Carole was born in Everett on March 30, 1943 to the late Antonio & Margaret (O'Toole) DeFilippo. She was raised in Everett, graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1961 and has been a resident of Melrose for the past 41 years. Carole worked for the Department of Public Health for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 20 years. She also worked part time at the Reading & Greeting Book Store at Kmart Plaza many years ago and most recently at Costco in Danvers. Mrs. Mattuchio was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved her two grandsons. She enjoyed the beach, reading and going out to lunch with friends. Carole was the loving mother of Dawn M. (Mattuchio) Surette & her husband Michael of Melrose and Lisa A. (Mattuchio) Millerick of Saugus. Cherished grandmother of Nick & Alex Surette of Melrose and was survived by many close friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday August 18th at 9AM. A Funeral Mass to celebrate her life at The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday, August 17th, from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
