Catherine A. (Remondi) Burdick of Melrose passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2007. She was 92 years old. Born on July 14, 1914 in Boston to the late Benjamin & Cecilia (Piantoni) Remondi. She was raised in Boston & Quincy. She was a resident of Melrose since 1983. Mrs. Burdick lived for her family and loved to cook. She was the chef and owner of the Cozy Corner Grill of Jamaica Plain and her first restaurant was in the La Salle Hotel of Boston. Catherine ran the restaurants from 1947-1969. Mrs. Burdick was a humanitarian, helping her friends and neighbors when they were sick or just out of the hospital. She would cook and care for them. She enjoyed dancing, playing the horses and going to Foxwoods in Connecticut. She was the wife of the late Frederick F. Holmes & Lester H. Burdick. Loving mother of Helen T. Shea of Burlington, Barbara W. Winters of Sarasota FL, Frederick F. Holmes & his wife Miriam of Plainville, William R. Holmes & his wife Rosemarie of Dedham, Paul R. Holmes & his wife Helen of Mooresville, NC & the late James B. Holmes. Grandmother of 25, great grandmother of 44 & great, great grandmother of 5. Sister of Larry Raimondi & his wife Gerry of Easton, Lucy Anderson of Attleboro, Cecilia ODea of Frankfort, IL, Valentina Grant of Anaheim, CA. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces & grand nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Mon. April 2nd at 10AM. Funeral mass in St. Marys Church Herbert St. Melrose at 11AM. Family & friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday, April 1st from 2-6PM in the funeral home. Interment is private.
