Catherine C. (Chapman) Harvey passed away at the Melrose Care Center, on Sept. 30th, she was 96 years of age. Catherine was born in Haverstraw, NY, raised in Newburgh, NY and lived in Bridgeport, CT for 37 years. She worked at A&P Supermarket & Fulton Fish Market in NY for 7 years and then soldered on the assembly line at the Remington Rand Company in Bridgeport CT for 25 years. She moved to Melrose in 1986 after the death of her husband Fred, to be with her son Robert & daughter-in-law Gayle. Catherine loved cowboy music, bingo, knitting, word search puzzles, reading mystery novels and cartoons on TV. Mrs. Harvey liked the Kentucky Derby, the Indy 500 and speed, even though she never owned a car. She was also a member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose. Mrs. Harvey was the wife of the late Fred W. Harvey. Mother of Robert E. Harvey & his wife Gayle Wetmore of Melrose. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wed., October 4th, from 4-6PM. Relatives & friends invited. Funeral services & interment will be private.
