Cecilia Mary (Meuse) O'Donnell of Melrose, died at her daughter's home in Connecticut on Thursday, October 15, 2009. She was 97 years old. Born on September 29, 1912 in Somerville, Massachusetts to the late Charles & Delphine (Sauliner) Meuse, she was raised in Somerville and a 1930 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. Mrs. O'Donnell worked as a secretary with the United States Navy during WWII and later as a secretary with Morton Oil of Malden for 15 years. She was a resident of Melrose most of her life and a member of St. Mary's Church of Melrose. Cecilia was a loving mother, grandmother and Aunt. She loved her family, traveling, going to the casino and was an accomplished pianist. She was the devoted wife of the late Michael J. O'Donnell, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Michael J. O'Donnell & his wife Christine of FL & Stephanie M. Taylor & her husband Cameron of CT. Cherished grandmother of Kristin Sloane & her husband Steven of Washington, D.C. Caring sister of the late Elizabeth Lowrey, Dorothy Meuse, Edythe Meuse, Peggy Goehring & James Meuse. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, October 20th at 9AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM.
