Charles T. Baxter, 87, died Wednesday at the Pilgrim Rehab & Nursing Center in Peabody after a brief illness. Born and raised in Malden, he graduated from Malden High School and resided in Malden until the mid 1940's. Charles had lived in Melrose for 48 yrs prior to moving to Wakefield 9 yrs ago. He was active in the Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star in Malden. He was proud of his ancestors who were aboard the Ship that followed the Mayflower to America. Charles was a dairy technician at Borden's Ice Cream in Woburn for over 50 yrs and retired in 1978. He was the husband of the late Judith A. ( Prilgosky) Baxter. Father of Toby Allen of Wakefield and Andrea S. Bradford & her husband James of Hudson, MA. Uncle of Eleanor Jean Boyd of SC. Private Services will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W Foster St Melrose. There are no visiting hours. Burial will be in Oak Dale Cemetery, Middleton.
