Obituary

Charles J. Curran (retired NE Telephone Employee) died suddenly at home Jan 26th at the age of 81. Charlie was born and brought up in Melrose, Graduated from Melrose High Class of 1938 and has lived in Wakefield since 1955. He was a retired repairman for the N.E. Telephone Co. where he worked for 35yrs retiring in 1981. He was a member of the VFW Harold O'Young Post #2394 of Melrose, a former member of the Melrose Businessmen Bowling League, the New England Telephone Pioneers and The Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield. Charlie served in the US Army during WWII. Burial in St.Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham. He was the husband of the late Mary C. (DeCoste) Curran. Father of Maureen L. Coughlin & her husband Leonard of Wakefield, Patricia A. Broderick & her husband John of Manchester NH, Barbara M. Donahue & her husband Daniel of Wakefield and Kathleen J. Curran of Wakefield. Brother of Alice Foye of NH, James of N.Chelmsford, Peter of Melrose, Paul of Malden, Albert of Marblehead, Selina Mundo of Amesbury, William of NH and the late Bernard Curran. Grandfather of Christian & Matthew Broderick, Beth, Craig & Michael Coughlin, Jennifer Curran, Christopher & Jill Donahue. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tues. Jan 30th at 10 AM. Funeral mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 11 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery Stoneham. Retired NE Telephone Repairman. WWII Army Veteran.
