Charles E. "Charlie" Dempsey, of Melrose, formerly of East Boston & Revere, died at home on Oct. 25, 2011 at the age of 70. Charlie was born in Winthrop, raised in East Boston and a graduate of East Boston High School. He worked as a Mill Worker for the New England Casket Company in East Boston for 43 years before retiring in 2004. Charlie resided in Revere for 20 years and Melrose for the past 3 years. He was a member of the U.S. Steelworker's Union for many years, enjoyed horse racing, walking Revere Beach and playing cards with his family. Charlie was a "True Blue Yankees fan", an avid sports and a season ticket holder for the Boston Bruins. He was the loving brother of Raymond J. Dempsey Jr. & his wife Sophie of Canton and Alice M. (Dempsey) Sullivan & her husband Thomas of Peabody. Devoted uncle of Regina Sullivan of Peabody, Suzanne Craig & her husband Chris of Stoughton and Sandra Hillcoat & her husband Glen of Halifax, MA. Also survived by several great nieces & 1 great nephew. Good Friend of Bob Linehan of Melrose. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday Oct. 28th at 8:30AM. Burial in Puritan lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
