Charles E. "Charlie" Heath, of Melrose, died at his home on Sunday, February 21, 2010. He was 101 years old. Born on September 19, 1908 in the Maplewood Section of Malden, he was the second child to the late John & Alice (Johnson) Heath. He attended Malden Schools, leaving early to help support the family. Mr. Heath worked for Eastman Kodak for 51 years as a Technician Sales Representative, traveling all around the country, Mexico, Canada and living in many different places as well. Charlie loved life and lived during the best of times. He enjoyed his home at Newfound Lake in NH, was a past member of the Melrose Elks and St. Mary's Church in Melrose. He made numerous sculptures from metal and tried his hand at oil paintings, many of which were worth hanging. Charlie also made hand crafted wooden 4 masted square-rigged schooners that were works of art. He was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy L. (Frizzell) Heath, with whom they shared 61 years of marriage. He was the loving father of E. Beverly Brown-Duke & her husband Ronald of E. Wakefield, NH & Carole A. Hooper & her husband Richard of Pentwater, Michigan & Venice, FL. Cherished grandfather of 8 & great grandfather of 23. Caring brother of the late Florence Ameral, John, and Harold & Chester Heath. Also survived by close friend & companion, Charlotte Peterof of Melrose. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, February 26th at 12:30PM.
