Obituary

Charles L. Parrish died at Mass. General Hospital Nov. 3rd at the age of 86. He was born and raised in Saugus, graduated from Saugus High School Class of 1934, graduated from Lowell Technical Institute with an engineering degree and has been living in Melrose the past 50 years. Charles was a Civil Engineer for the Metropolitan District Commission Parks Division for 34years. He was involved in many projects for the MDC including: Storrow Dive, Memorial Drive, Charles Gate East & West and many of the overpasses in the Charles River roadways. Charles was a WWII Navy Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of VFW Harold O'Young Post #2394, DAV Chapter 44 in Boston and a longtime meber of St. Mary's Church. Charles was the husband of Lillian E. (Carney) Parrish. Brother of the late Edward Parrish and Elsie Perkins. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thurs. Nov. 7th at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and freinds invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
