Charles J. Roy passed away at Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester on January 29, 2007, he was 89. Charles was born and raised in Lynn, graduated from Lynn English High School and has been living in Reading since 1950. Mr. Roy was a steelworker from 1934 to 1979 for Zurbach Steel & Aluminum Company of Somerville & Salem, NH. He took a break in his career to serve in the US Army during WWII. Charles coached little league for several years in Reading and was a devoted family man. Mr. Roy was the beloved husband of the late Helen E. (Kuhn) Roy. Survived by his son Charles F. Roy & his wife Jill Flaherty of Medford, his son Warren J. Roy of FL and JoAnne Roy of Amesbury. Grandfather of Christopher, Nicholas, Julia & Carly Rose Roy. Brother of Jackie McDonough of Milton & the late Rainy Roy, Albert Roy, Clara Tondreau, Edna Furbush, Jeannette Creighton, Ida DesRosiers, Celia Nason & Loretta Tremblay. Also survived by numerous nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wed. January 31st at 1:30PM. Relatives & friends are invited to gather at the funeral home from 12:00PM 1:30PM prior to the service. Interment in Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading.
