Charles J. Shay, of Billerica, formerly of Tyngsborough, died peacefully on April 24, 2025, at the age of 70. Charlie was born in Melrose on November 18, 1954 to the late Kathleen R. (Brennan) and John L. Shay, Sr. He was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School.

Charlie went on to earn a bachelor's degree from North Adams State College and spent his entire career in sales. He loved spending time at the family home in Wells, ME over the course of 15 years. Charlie was an avid sports fan and was a season ticket holder for multiple teams, he loved going to any and all sporting events. He played college baseball and hockey and was a three sport athlete at Melrose high.

Beloved husband of Diane Malone Shay of Billerica. Loving father of Dennis Patrick Shay & his fiancé Victor Gonzalez of Medford, and Andrew Joseph Shay & his wife Stephanie of Stormville, NY. Proud grandfather on Benjamin and Madeline Shay. Caring brother of James Shay, Robert Shay, Rosemary Beckford, Daniel Shay, David Shay, Thomas Shay, Gerald Shay, the late John Shay, Kathleen Shay, and Richard Shay.

Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, May 4th, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 5th, 2025, at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the mass. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
