Obituary

Christine B. McNamara, 88, died at home Wednesday after a brief illness. Born in Cork City, County Cork, Ireland, she was raised and educated in Boston. She graduated from the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing , Class of 1936. Christine was Past President of the Eastern Middlesex Women's Medical Sociey Auxiliary and a Founder of the Church of the Incarnation in Melrose. She had been a resident of Melrose for 40 yrs, Litchfield NH, for 22 yrs, and spent the last 11 months in Saugus. Christine was the beloved wife of the late Francis J. McNamara M.D. Mother of Dr. Francis J. McNamara and his wife Genevieve of Saugus, Paul J. McNamara of Richmond VA, Christine M. Haigis of Hudson NH, Atty John G. McNamara and his wife Linda of Melrose and Dr. Charles R. McNamara of Winter Park FL. Sister of Anna Early of Chelmsford, Louise Sullivan of Malden, Winifred Lynch of W Quincy, Patricia Parent of Lexington, Rev John P. Byrnes and Paul T. Byrnes both of FL.. Sister-in-law of Sr.Elizabeth McNamara, S.H.C.J., Rye NY. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St Melrose on Saturday Feb 24 at 10 AM. Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts., Melrose at 11 AM. Relatives and friends invited Visiting hours Fri 4 - 8 pm. Burial be in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Oncology Clinic of the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, 585 Lebanon St. Melrose 02176.
