Christopher P. Dunne died suddenly at Massachusetts General Hospital on August 9th at the age of 21, after complications from surgery. Chris was born in Winchester, raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High Class of 2001 and was presently attending Bunker Hill Community College. He worked for the MDC as the coordinator for the visitor center at Breakhart Reservation in Saugus for the past 5 years. As a young entrepreneur at the age of 12 he started the Soda & Snack Vending Machine Company which he has run the past 12 years. Chris has had Spina Bifida since birth but refused to let the disease be a handicap to him. He enjoyed playing wheelchair ice hockey, swimming, basketball, skiing with the handicap at Waterville Valley, traveling and has been a Red Sox season ticket holder the last 6 years. He volunteered at Melrose PPS, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, the Stride Rite Corporation and taught CCD at St. Mary's Church in Melrose. In high school he received the Melrose High Service Award and this year would have been his first year as a Patriots season ticket holder. Son of Richard C. & Cathy A. (Corcoran) Dunne. Brother of Brian F. Dunne of Melrose. Grandson of Donald & Shirley (Crocker) Corcoran of Melrose and Edna P. (Boudrot) Dunne of Newton & the late Paul H. Dunne Sr. Nephew of Joan Starky of MO, Susan & Mark Simeola of Melrose, Gayle & Tom Peterson of Harwichport, Nancy Dunne & Bill Price of CA. Also survived by several cousins and close friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wed. Aug. 13th at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited.
