Christopher Palmer passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Saturday, December 10, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 52 years of age. Chris was born in London on April 25, 1959 and came to the United States aboard the Queen Mary at the age of 4. He was raised in NJ and Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1977. Chris went on to graduate from Eisenhower College in NY and then further his education at Salem State College in Salem. He worked as flight attendant for a few years, worked with the Boston EMS for several years, and then for Action Ambulance as director of customer development for the past 12 years. Chris was a most generous man, always at the ready to help where ever needed with donations, time and talent. His quick wit and smiling face will not be forgotten. He loved the beach, the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, and camping at Jellystone Park in NH. Chris was an avid golfer who played and volunteered at numerous charity golf tournaments. Chris was the beloved son of Selwyn & Ellen (White) Palmer of Melrose. Loving brother of David M. Palmer & his wife Terri of Haverhill and Steven J. Palmer & his wife Gina of Wakefield. Cherished fiancé of Susan Griffin of Reading. Devoted Father of CJ, Kerri-Leigh & Jillian Palmer all of Melrose and Lauren Griffin of Reading. Also survived by several nieces & nephews and numerous friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday, December 15th at 9AM. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Chris's life will be held at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment will be private.
