Christopher M. Whyte, a lifelong Saugus resident, died on December 31, 2020 at the age of 94 after a short illness. He was born in Boston on July 24, 1926 to the late Edward & Ursula (Locke) Whyte.
Christopher was the beloved husband of the late Doris M. (Lovett) Whyte. Loving father of Christina Baldi of Saugus, and the late Nancy Maher and Barry Whyte. He was the dear friend and companion of Marie Roy of Lynnfield. Cherished grandfather of Eric Baldi, Melissa Baldi, Michelle Maher, Jessica Bloomer, Christopher Maher, Justin Maher, Michael Whyte, and Lindsay Hanson. Proud great-grandfather of Danielle, Colleen, Thomas, Joseph, Avery, Christian, Jack, Liam, Cora, and the late Evan Baldi. Loving brother of Kathleen Herman of Melrose, and the late Phyllis LaVigueur, Harry Whyte, and Bernard Whyte.
Christopher was raised in Saugus and graduated from Saugus High School in 1944. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served honorably during WWII. After the war Christopher went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maine, graduating in 1953. He worked as an engineer for 37 years for Phillips, GE, & Sylvania. He married his wife Doris and raised their three children in Saugus. He was a proud member of the Saugus VFW Post #2346 and the Marine Corps League. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid golfer and swimmer. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Christopher's name may be made to a charity of your choice.
