Claire Marie Farina of Peabody, Massachusetts passed away on December 7, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Claire Marie Farina ('nee Lonergan) was born and raised in Charlestown, MA and a long-time resident of Melrose, MA, currently of Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA.
She passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023 at the age of 89 with her family at her side.
Claire graduated from Girls High in Boston in 1952. After high school she began work for New England T&T until her marriage in 1956. She was a wonderful wife and wonderful mother of 4 children. She adored her 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Claire's favorite thing in life was being side by side with her husband, Oreste (Rusty) Farina. Together, Claire and Rusty enjoyed spending many days on their boat and many evenings square dancing, ballroom dancing and round dancing. They loved to cruise and travel to many different places. Her smile and sweet disposition would light up the room and she was loved by countless friends.
Claire was the beloved daughter of the late Frederick and Anne Lonergan and the sister to the late Barbara Goodwin and Fred Lonergan. She will be remembered as the caring and loving wife of Oreste (Rusty) Farina with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Devoted and cherished mother of Michael Farina of Somerville, MA, Nancy Allerton of Bristol, TN, the late Karen Donovan and her surviving husband Rick Donovan of Peabody, MA, and Susan DeFronzo and her husband Thomas DeFronzo of Salisbury, MA. Beloved Nana to 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert Street., Melrose on December 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow the mass at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
