IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Claire E.
Gorman
December 20, 1944 – January 31, 2025
Claire Elaine (Malenchini) Gorman was born December 20, 1944, the daughter of John and Claire Malenchini of Melrose. She attended the Melrose school system and graduated from Melrose High School class of 1963.
After high school, Claire met and married the love of her life Fred Gorman and shared a lifetime of love raising their two boys in Melrose. A homemaker early on, Claire went on to hold jobs at Melrose Wakefield Hospital and held a rich career with the City of Malden in the Building Department. She loved her time working but family always came first to Claire.
Claire was a quiet, reserved woman by nature but don't let that fool you. She was feisty and outspoken when she needed to be, and always advocated for herself, her family, and other loved ones. She was a natural caregiver not only to her children, but took exceptional care of her parents, family members, or anyone that needed help or support.
Claire was a beautiful woman, was impeccably dressed, and wouldn't leave the house without full makeup, nails painted, and her blond hair styled perfectly. She was known to have a sparkle or two on her clothing including on her infamous black flip flops that she loved to wear year-round. Claire loved Elvis, watching the Red Sox and Patriots, trips to Florida with Betty/Paul, and trips to Vegas/Foxwoods (really any casino) with Ruth, Lois, Betty, Susie, Connie, Lisa or with anyone who was up for the trip! During her last trip to Vegas in August 2024, Claire witnessed the Mirage Hotel/Casino permanently closed, a fixture she visited annually since its opening in 1989. It was an emotional "end of era" to a place she called her second home and one that held so many memories.
Claire was born and raised in Melrose, a city that she loved and called home. She spent her entire life on Ryder Ave and shared a lifetime of friendship, laughs and love with her beloved "Village Girls" ; Betty, Patty, Fran, and Renie. There was no stronger bond, no deeper love, than what she shared with her Village Girls.
Above all else, Claire loved her boys, Sean and Jimmy. She never missed a game or any event in their lives. She was always present, always there for them, a motherly bond like no other. And that bond extended to her grandchildren, Timmy, Haley, Alyssa and Cam, insisting at being at every birth and every event thereafter. Her children and grandchildren always felt her love and always knew they came first in her life.
In addition to her parents, Claire was the loving daughter-in-law of the late Frederick and Ruth Gorman, and the loving wife of the late Frederick J Gorman, all of Melrose. She was the mother of Sean Gorman and his wife Lisa (Tura) and the late beloved James "Jimmy" Gorman whom she loved and missed deeply. She was the loving "Nan" to Timothy, Haley, Alyssa and Cameron Gorman, all of Melrose. She was the loving sister of the late Joanne Mistretta, Carl Malenchini, and sister-in-law to the late Gaetano "Sonny" Mistretta. Loving "Auntie Claire" to Sal, Johnny, Micheal and Robert Mistretta and Paula, Lynda and Diana Malenchini, and former mother-in-law to Karen Ingersoll Gorman. Also survived by many cousins, neighbors and friends.
