ClementineE. Upham, 87, ' A simple Irish woman who loved her husband and children ', died at Melrose Wakefield Hospital, Saturday, after a brief illness. Born in Boston, she lived most of her life in Medford, graduated from Medford High, Class of 1934, and was a switchboard operator for New England Telephone at the Boston Office. Clementine had been a resident of Melrose for the past 22 yrs and loved the Melrose Public Library and spending summers in Rockport. She was the wife of the late Charles A. Upham. Loving mother of C. Ellen Upham of Long Island, NY, Joyce M Upham McCarthy of Long Island, NY, John K. Upham of Byfield, Carole F. Upham of Melrose, William C. Upham of Reading, Rita Upham of Italy and Michael J. Upham of So. Walpole. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Sister of Adrienne Quinn Lopez of Wakefield and sister-in-law of Frances Upham of Malden. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St. Melrose on Tues Aug 19 at 8:45AM. Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts. Melrose at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited.
