Craig Y. Lamb, of Lynnfield, formerly of Melrose, died at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Oct. 3, 2014 at the age of 67. Craig was born in Malden, raised in Melrose, a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1965 and went on to attend Middlesex Community College and Clark University. Craig served his country as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and received commendations as a Sharp Shooter & a National Defense Service Medal. He worked as a Chief Information Officer for Mass. Dept. of Veterans Services in Boston for over 15 years. Craig enjoyed gardening, flowers, feeding the deer in his backyard and fishing & hunting with his family in the Maine North Woods. He was a Boston Red Sox fan and was scouted to play professional baseball. Craig was an avid golfer, expert skier and enjoyed helping people. He was the beloved husband of Judith L. (Barnes) Lamb. Devoted son of the late Paul & Louise (Yeaton) Lamb. Father of Gordon & his wife Sarah of Woburn, Amy & her husband Neil of VT. Caring stepfather of Charles & his wife Jean of Georgetown, Michael & his wife Kim of Tewksbury and Kevin & his fiance Renee of Lynnfield. Former husband of Eda U. George of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Thomas, Alexander, Ada, Zohy, Alexandra, Victoria, Joseph, Eric, Sophia, Karlee, Michael & Taryn. Brother of Paul Lamb & his wife Phyllis of NH, Scott Lamb & his wife Rebecca of ME, Robin Higgins & her husband Joseph of Melrose and Leslie Lamb of CA. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Green Street Baptist Church, 179 Green St., Melrose on Wednesday Oct 8th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Tuesday at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose from 4-7PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. .
