Daniel R. Cullen Jr. passed away at the Epoch of Melrose, on January 29, 2013; he was only 61 years of age. Dan was born in Chelsea on July 17, 1951 to the late Daniel R. Cullen Sr. and Mary (Martinello) Cullen. He was raised in Chelsea & Everett and graduated from Everett Vocational High School. Mr. Cullen was the owner and founder of Daniel R. Cullen Jr. HVAC Inc., which he has proudly run for over 35 years. Mr. Cullen has been a resident of Melrose since 1975; he loved the beach, the sun and liked to travel to his favorite beach, Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda. Dan was a dedicated family man who had a great sense of humor and a wonderful smile. Mr. Cullen was the loving husband of 39 years to Ruthe M. (Eaves) Cullen. Devoted father of Daniel R. Cullen & his wife Cheri of Melrose and Sarah A. Cullen P.H.D. of Gloucester. Cherished grandfather of Drew & Liam Cullen. Beloved brother of Kathy Merchant & her husband Victor, Susan Rankin & her husband Dick & Michael Cullen all of Peabody, Diane Chigas & her husband John of NH, Patrick Cullen & his wife Stacy of Haverhill and the late Thomas P. Cullen. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday February 1st, at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation on Thursday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment will be private.
