Daniel J. Driscoll, of Melrose, died on December 16, 2015 at the age of 82. He was born in Everett, MA on August 18, 1933 to Timothy and Anna (Moore) Driscoll. Daniel was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School in 1951. After high school, he continued his education at Boston College and Bentley. Daniel married the love of his life, the late Dorothy (Marinelli) Driscoll in 1958. Daniel and Dorothy spent 49 years happily married. They settled down in Melrose in 1962 to raise their family, and remained there for the rest for their lives. Daniel worked as an accountant for GCA Manufacturing for twenty years and for the General Ship for another twenty years. He also worked in the Retirement Office for the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department. Daniel was very active in the community; he was a Grand Knight at the Melrose Knights of Columbus, volunteered as a coach for Melrose Youth Hockey and also served on the board for the youth hockey league. Daniel was a longtime member of the YMCA as well as the Melrose Bowling League. He was an excellent golfer and enjoyed playing many of the courses in the area. Daniel loved his trips to Boca Raton, FL as well as the Florida Keys, and he would always be sure to go fishing while he was down there. Most of all, Daniel loved his family, he attended as many of his grandchildren's events as he could. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy A. (Marinelli) Driscoll. Loving father of Pamela J. Avallone & her husband Daniel of Salem, NH, Daniel C. Driscoll & his wife Melissa of North Reading, and Stephen D. Driscoll & his wife Cynthia of Boynton Beach, FL. Cherished grandfather of Brianna, Shane, Michael, Patrick, Erica, and Shauna. Proud great grandfather of Mason. Caring brother of Jack Driscoll of NH, Carol Brennan of Malden, Maureen Gasparello of W. Dennis, and Jane McCarthy of W. Yarmouth. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 2-6 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Monday, December 21st, at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at the Incarnation Church in Melrose. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
