Daniel J. 'Scotty' Phimister died after a long illness at Epoch Senior Health Care of Melrose on Dec. 17th at the age of 88. Daniel was born and raised in Scotland, came the the US in 1928 and graduated from St. Joseph Grammar School in Somerville. Scotty lived in Somerville most of his life and the past 25 years in Wakefield. He worked as an auto mechanic & service manager for Rambler, then as a machinist for the Charlestown Navy Yard for several years and finally as a carpenter for many years at the Watertown Arsenal, retiring in 1977. He was the husband of Mildred L. (Gullage) Phimister. Father of Barbara E. Nelson & her husband William of Freedom NH and Daniel J. Phimister Jr. of Wakefield. Grandfather of Lynne Shea of NH, Gayle Sweet of Melrose, Lori Chisholm of NH and Joanne Nelson of Dracut. Also survived by 7 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Saturday December 21st at 9AM. Funeral mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited.
