Dante D. Moose Spadafora passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, on December 5, 2007; he was 90 years of age. Born and raised in Melrose, Moose attended Melrose schools and has been a lifelong resident in Melrose. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a longtime member of the LT Norman Prince VFW in Melrose. Moose was a master mason working for the City of Melrose in the DPW Department for 30 years, retiring at the age of 65. Moose was well known in Melrose for his masonry talent; building the walls surrounding Wyoming Cemetery, the fireplace inside the club house at Mt. Hood Golf Course as well as many other projects in the city. After his retirement he continued using his talent building and working in his yard. Moose loved being at home with his family and friends. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire M. (Igoe) Spadafora. Loving father of Roberta G. Watt & her husband Frank of Melrose, Daniel Spadafora & his wife Kathy of Milford, NH and Judith A. Logan & her late husband Jack of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Angela, Sophia, David, Jonathan, Anthony, Chris, Lynn and Steven. Caring great grandfather of Crystal, Mark, Andrew, Hayley and Ethan. Devoted brother of Lena DiNardi & her late husband Henry, Olga Emanuel, all of Melrose, Cynthia McQueen & her husband Don, Frankie Spadafora, all of Saugus and the late Alfonso Spadafora, Florence Ricker and Joseph Spadafora. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday Dec.10th at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited.
