Darien A. Sanford-Castro, of Melrose, died on June 29, 2014 at the age of 25. Darien was born in Boston, raised in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 2007. He went on to earn his degree in Video & Media Production from Bunker Hill Community College. Darien was a Musician and made video productions for many local artists in Boston. In High School, he played football, and baseball. He then continued being active with running & swimming at the Malden YMCA every day. Darien was a Lifeguard at Revere Beach for several years. Currently, he worked as an intern for Cybersound Recording Studio on Newbury, St. in Boston. He was the loving son of Diane R. Sanford of Melrose and the late Santo Castro. Cherished brother of Justen Laffey of Melrose, Rophy, Rubi and Rosemary Castro, all of Boston. Grandson of Joyce Kashgegian & her late husband Edward of Malden. Great grandson of Mildred & John Curran of Wakefield. Nephew of Linda & John Bresnahan of Wilmington, David & Carolyn Sanford of Billerica, Louise & Norman Dugas of NH and Wilson Pye of Reading. Cousin of Morgan, Dylan & Shaylan Bresnahan. Also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins & many friends. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, July 7th at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
