David A. Brissette, of Melrose, died on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the EPOCH Senior Healthcare Center of Melrose. He was 85 years old. Born on July 19, 1924 in Wakefield, MA to the late Leo A. & Emily F. (Mahoney) Brissette, he was raised in Melrose and a 1942 graduate of Melrose High School. He served as a bombardier and navigator during WWII in the United States Army Air Corp and then graduated from Boston College with a Bachelors of Science Degree in 1949. He then worked in his father's company, Trask Heating of Medford and later ran the business with his brother Leo for 15 years. Later, he worked at Stone & Webster as an HVAC Designer, retiring in 1984. David enjoyed visiting the Milano Senior Center of Melrose, playing Bridge & Cribbage and watching the Red Sox. He was believed to be Melrose's 1st jogger before it became popular. Mr. Brissette was the devoted husband of Nancy J. (Ryder) Brissette with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Suzanne Doria & her husband Vince of CT, Marianne Parker & her husband John of Westford, Julianne Porter & her husband Ron of NJ, Stephen Brissette & his wife Roni of Brookline, Joseph Brissette of Georgia, John Brissette of Malden & Christianne Chetkin & her husband Peter of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Matthew & Abigail Doria & the late Emily Doria, Catherine, Julia, Daniel & Suzanne Parker, Michael, Jeffrey & Nicholas Porter, Jackson, Leo & Dominic Brissette & Samuel Chetkin. Caring brother of Warren Brissette of NH, Marie O'Connell of Andover, Sara O'Donnell of NH & the late Leo Brissette. Also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, Sept. 19th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 9AM.
