David Joseph Dolaher, of Harwich Port, formerly of Melrose and North Andover, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025. He leaves his beloved wife of 61 years, Judith M. (Warren) Dolaher, loving daughter Christine (Dolaher) Doherty (Jeffrey) of Melrose, and sons David, Jr. (Anne) of Arlington, Virginia, and Mark Dolaher (Susan) of Melrose. He also is survived by 8 grandchildren: Catherine, David and John Dolaher; Shelby, Jessica, and Alexis Doherty; and Ian and William Dolaher. He is survived by his sister, Eileen (Dolaher) Cook of West Harwich and brother Joseph T. (Joyce) Dolaher of Wilbraham, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Helena J. (O'Connell) and Joseph J. Dolaher, and sisters Mary Frances (Dolaher) Kelley and her husband, William, Susan E. (Dolaher) Dawley and her husband John (Jack), and brother-in-law Gerald Cook.

Born in Melrose on September 11, 1939, graduated from St Mary's Elementary School, and the Newman School in Boston. He was a life-long truck driver spending a career driving with his father's company, M.J. Doyle Transportation Company, and Roadway Express; he was a proud brother of Local 25 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. David enjoyed working with his hands either tinkering with cars, doing major construction work on his houses, or just puttering in the yard. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his loving grandchildren at the beach. He spent the latter part of his life enjoying traveling the world with Judy, meeting new friends, and experiencing life beyond "the city limits." David was a loyal friend, a devoted and faithful husband, and a proud father and grandfather. He loved people, lit up a room with his infectious smile, and always had a ready story to share bringing happiness and laughter in its wake. He leaves behind cherished memories that will be carried in our hearts forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Gately Funeral Home on Monday, February 24, 2025 between 4:00 and 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 10:00 am. Burial to follow the mass at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity in David's memory.
