Obituary

Deborah J. Murphy, 59, died at Mass General Hospital, Saturday after a lengthy illness. Born in Melrose she was a lifelong resident. Deborah graduated from Melrose High class of 1963 and Chandler School for Women in 1965. She was active in Brownie & Girl Scout Troops and Cub Scout & Boy Scout Troops in Melrose, Holder of the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scout Council and was the first women District Chairman of the Middlesex Minuteman Council of Boy Scouts. Deborah was a communicant at St Marys Church and a member of the St Marys School PTO from 1978 1984. Wife of Paul R. Murphy Jr. Mother of Paul R. Murphy III, Douglas R. Murphy and Kristen D. Murphy all of Melrose. Sister of Frederick Laskey of Fl and Susan Seeley of ME. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St Melrose Thurs Aug 19th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St Marys Church, corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts., Melrose at 9 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed 2 4 & 7 9 PM. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Boy Scouts of America, Minuteman Council, 199 State St, Boston, 02109.
