Dennis R. Driver, of Melrose, passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on May 26, 2023, at the age of 75.

Dennis R. Driver was born to John and Anna Driver of East Boston on June 12, 1947. At the age of 10 Dennis moved to Melrose and spent most of his life there. Dennis was a graduate of the Melrose School System. Upon graduation, Dennis entered Northeastern University where he obtained both his Bachelor's and Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling. Dennis was employed by Massachusetts's Rehabilitation Commission for many years. In 1989, he married Lorraine Gardner, and they were happily together for 34 memorable years.

Most important to Dennis was the love of family, sharing holidays and other special occasions. Dennis enjoyed a variety of hobbies, time with friends and sharing a meal in fine restaurants.

He will most be remembered for his kindness, gentleness and never wavering love of God. The spirit of Dennis will always be with us. May he rest in peace.

Beloved husband of Lorraine R. Driver. Caring brother of Kenneth Drive & his late wife Joanne of Melrose. Brother-in-law of Gloria Driver. Caring uncle of Robert Driver of East Boston, Kenneth Driver & his wife Andrea of Wakefield and Stephanie Driver of Melrose. Great uncle of Jake & Ava. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 8:30AM-10:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 11:00AM. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
