Domenic Ruggiero died after a long illness at the Newfield House Nursing Home in Plymouth April 23rd at the age of 88. Domenic was born in Melito Italy, came to the US at the age of 7, lived in the Day Square area in East Boston and graduated from Boston Trade School specializing in carpentry. He progressed from a journeyman to Job Site Management. He worked as a Job Site Manager for several construction companies and was involved in a large number of projects in the greater Boston area. Including, the Container Terminals in Charlestown, The Hoover Elementary School in Melrose and The Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital in Braintree. He retired in 1974 from the Lake Construction Company in Lynn to travel with his wife Elena throughout Europe, the West Coast and Mexico. Domenic and his wife Elena also owned and operated Roadside Restaurant in Tewksbury in the mid 1950's. He lived in Melrose for 48 years, spent winters at Light House Point in Pompono Beach Florida for many years and the past few years in Plymouth. He was the husband of the late Elena H. (Barletta) Ruggiero. Brother of Angleo Ruggiero, John Ruggiero both of FL and the late Jerry Ruggiero. Brother-in-law of Rose Ruggiero of FL. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sat. April 27th at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held Sat. morning from 9:30-11:30 AM. Entombment in Woodlawn Mausoleum in Everett.
