Obituary

Domenic V. Scarpa passed away at the Putnam Farms in Danvers, MA on December 31, 2012. He was 82 years of age. Mr. Scarpa was born in Melrose on June 27, 1930 to the late Frank & Angelina (Montefusco) Scarpa. He was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1948. Domenic served his country proudly in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Scarpa started working for his father at Eagle Can Company when he was a teenager and eventually went on to own the company and worked there for over 30 years. Eagle Can Company was located in Boston, Somerville and then in Peabody before being sold in 1985. Domenic and his wife Patricia lived in Stoneham for over 25 years, Wakefield for 8 years and after his wife passed away in 2009 he resided in Stoneham. Domenic has been summering on Sun Cook Lake at the Scarpa Villa in Barnstead, NH for the past 75 years. He was a talented pianist and musician, was a great athlete, loved to ski, coached hockey, play tennis & softball, loved to go boating and he enjoyed his fireworks. Mr. Scarpa enjoyed his trips to Florida to visit his brother Lou and family, enjoyed soaking up the sun and had a wonderful sense of humor. But most of all he was a great husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. Domenic was the beloved husband of the late Patricia L. (Driscoll) Scarpa. Loving father of Andrea Nero & her husband John of RI, Diana J. Cacicio & her husband David of Stoneham, Frank L. Scarpa & his wife Kathy of Stoneham, Stephen Scarpa of AK, Domenic V. Scarpa Jr. & his wife Jodi of NH, and Toni Ellegood of Tewksbury. Devoted brother of Lou Scarpa & his wife Gloria of Barnstead, NH. Nephew of Grace Hart of Stoneham. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a boat load of nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday, January 7th at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 2:00-6:00PM. Burial at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody. US Air Force Korean War Veteran.
