Donald C. Knight Sr., of Melrose, died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on June 1st at the age of 84. Don was born & raised in Melrose and attended Melrose High School. After high school, Don served in the Navy during WWII. He worked as a Sales Manager for Benson Goss Fuel Inc. for 34 years before founding Knight-Harrison Fuel Inc. in 1981. Don was a member of the Harold O' Young V.F.W. Post #2394, Melrose Elks, Melrose Kiwanis and the Melrose Masonic Lodge. He was the beloved husband of Victoria R. "Rita" (DelRossi) Knight for 61 years. Loving father of Donald C. Knight Jr. & his wife Lois of Topsfield and Terry D. Knight & his wife Erin of North Reading. Cherished grandfather of Courtney, Brian, Chandler, Cameron, Rachael & Madylin. Caring brother of the late Malcolm Knight & Frank "Dickie" Knight. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday June 5th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-7PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Don's name to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
