Dorothea C. (Curtis) Pickens, of Melrose, died at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Melrose on Oct. 26, 2007 at the age of 96. Dorothea was born & raised in Woburn and a graduate of Woburn High School. She was a resident of Melrose for the past 55 years and a member of the PTA in Melrose. She was the Business manager for Miss Cathys Dance Studio in Melrose for over 32 years. Dorothea was the beloved wife of the late Luman W. Pickens. Loving mother of Lauria B. Currier & her husband Herbert, Cathy Pickens-Nagel, all of Melrose and the late Luman C. Pickens. Also survived by 10 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church, 70 Emerson St., Melrose on Saturday Nov. 17th at 11AM. Relatives & friends invited. There is no visiting hours. Arrangements by the Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
