Dorothy A. "Dot" Bowman (Kerrins) passed away peacefully at Oostermans' Rest Home on March 3rd with her family and caregivers at her side. She was 93. Dot was the beloved wife of the late David J. Bowman. She was the devoted mother of David and his wife Sophia of Melrose, Peter and his wife Cynthia of Melrose, Marilyn and her husband Thomas Lawless of Stoneham and the loving grandmother of Gregory, Rebecca and Olivia Bowman. She was the dear sister of the late Thomas Kerrins, Sr. and sister-in-law to the late Joseph and Lorraine Bowman.
Dot grew up in Revere before moving to Melrose where she and Dave raised their children. They had a wonderful marriage and enjoyed family vacations in the White Mountains and on Long Pond in Harwich. They had many friends from Melrose as well as Verizon and Boston Gas and their home was always welcoming to all. Dot retired from Verizon in 1987. Following retirement, she and Dave spent time golfing together and taking many trips to Florida and York Maine until Dave's passing in 1991.
Dot was an active member of the Incarnation Church until her health declined. She was also a familiar face at St. Mary's School for many years picking up her children and then her grandchildren. In later years, she continued to enjoy the company of her lifelong Melrose friends as they frequented the local spots for coffee and lunches.
Dot was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was known for her quick wit and the ability to engage in conversation with anyone including friends and strangers. She was a natural caretaker to all who needed her.
