Dorothy R. Dottie Gibbons, 85, a lifelong resident of Melrose, died at Harborside Healthcare in Saugus on March 1st after a long illness. Dottie was born and raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1938. She worked as a clerk for the New England Life Insurance Company in Boston for 35 years. Dottie worked as a volunteer at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for several years. Dorothy was the loving daughter of the late William H. Gibbons (retired Melrose Police Dept.) & Irene (LaFave) Gibbons. A funeral mass will be held at St. Margarets Church in Saugus on Thursday March 3rd at 9AM, followed by interment in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Margarets Church, 431 Lincoln St. Saugus, MA 01906.
