Douglas Stratton Martell passed to his eternal rest on August 30, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born on December 4, 1941 to Douglas and Helen (Stratton) Martell. He was born in Cambridge, raised in Winchester, and graduated from St. Clement High School, West Somerville, MA in 1959. He attended Merrimack College before enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard. Doug served his country with pride during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Batanes, Philippines where he met the love of his life, Corazon. They were happily married for almost 54 years. Doug's business in the Philippines afforded them the opportunity to live on several islands in the Philippines until they relocated to the United States in 1969 with his young family. He retired from Honeywell after 20 years of service and then worked as an accounting professional with Hyatt Corporation until he fully retired in 2004. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, returning to the Philippines as often as they could, driving across the country many times, accompanied by his children on a few occasions, as well as traveled to see his children when they were living outside of New England. He enjoyed watching sports whether it was one of his New England sports teams or watching any of his grandchildren play sports. His love for his family always came first and he would be there when they needed him. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him, especially the family he adored.
