Obituary

E. George Alcott passed away at the Bradford Terrace Nursing Facility, in Starke, FL on Sept., 12, 2006, he was 86. George was born and raised in Arlington, he graduated from Arlington High School and Tufts University, Class of 1941, with a degree in engineering. He worked for the General Electric Company in Lynn, MA & Cleveland, OH before entering the service. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. After his discharge from the service, he rejoined General Electric working as an engineer in the Locke Insulator Division in Maryland, from 1947 to 1983. George lived in Glen Burnie, MD for many years, where he was a member of the Brooklyn Gospel Chapel and Lutherville, MD for several years and was a member of the Timonium Presbyterian Church. He lived in Hingham, MA after he retired and was a volunteer chaplain with the Prison Fellowship Group in the Boston Area. Mr. Alcott moved to Florida in 1992. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Dorothy (Traver) Alcott. Loving Father of Daniel M. Alcott of MD, David L. Alcott of TX & Stephen B. Alcott & his wife Mary of Somerville. Grandfather of Cory, Roger, Jennifer & Rory Alcott. Great grandfather of Katelyn, Olivia, Grace, Gabriel, Liam, Ruby & Seamus. Brother of the late Naomi Craig & Nan Hart. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, Nov. 25th at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Interment will follow in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
