Obituary

Edith C. (Canole) Lane died January 20, 2007, after an extended illness, she was 93 years old. Edith was born and raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and has been a lifelong resident. Mrs. Lane was an original member of Incarnation Church and served as the first secretary at church for over 25 years. Family was everything to Edith and she enjoyed any gathering that had to do with her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis J. Lane. She will be missed by her son, Francis & his wife Carol of Melrose; her son, Myles & his wife Valerie of Saugus; and her son Kevin & his wife Janet of Lynnfield. She leaves behind 9 special grandchildren; Heidi Montgomery & her husband Thomas, Jennifer King & her husband Barry, David Lane, Andrew Lane, Myles Lane, Anna Rose Lane, Julie Lane, Christine Lane & Kimberly Lane. She was the great grandmother of Emma, Ally and Sean Montgomery & Matthew and Julia King. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wed. Jan. 24th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101A First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451-1115.
