Edward J. Arsenault, of Melrose, died peacefully on Sept. 12, 2005, he was 83. Eddie was born in Chelsea, raised in Reading and graduated from Reading High School. He lived in Malden for a few years and Melrose for over 45 years, where he was a member of the Incarnation Church and the American Legion. Mr. Arsenault served in the US Third Army during WWII under General George Patton. He fought for over 4 years in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Arsenault worked for both Zurbach Steel Company and the Crystal Steel Company, until his retirement in 1981. Eddie was a special man and was loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his generosity and wonderful sense of humor. Eddie was th loving husband of the late Irene C. (Mahoney) Arsenault. Brother of May Smart of Reading, Sister Irene Arsenault SH of Taunton, Marie Perry of RI and the late Mildred Simone, Leo Arsenault, Winifred Paulson & Stella OLigny. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law of James Mahoney of Melrose. Loving uncle to Stephen & Michael Mahoney both of NH, Ellen Hilsinger of Methuen and their spouses and children. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs. Sept. 15th at 9AM. Funeral mass in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. WWII Army Veteran.
