Edward "Ed" Doherty, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Feb. 20, 2015 at the age of 76. Ed was born & raised in Cambridge, a graduate of Rindge Technical High School, Class of 1956 and went on to attend Technical School for several years. He worked as an Electronic Technician for Datametrics in Wilmington for over 20 years, B & W Press in Georgetown for 15 years and Sales at Macy's in Saugus for 10 years. Ed loved computers, electronics, police scanners, older American cars and was active in the Cambridge Boy Scouts many years ago. He was an avid reader and enjoyed Disney World, cruises and spending time in Boca Grande, Fl & York Beach, Maine. Ed was the beloved husband of Carol M. (Crowley) Doherty of 45 years. Loving father of Greg E. Doherty & his wife Michele of Windham, NH and Susan M. Doherty & her fiancé Melvin Fernandes of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Sophia & Isabella. Caring brother of Mary Doherty of VT, Carol Doherty of Chelmsford and the late Paul Doherty & his wife Fran of Arlington and the late Dan Doherty & his late wife Mary. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, Feb. 25th from 9-11AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11AM.
