Obituary

Edward L. Fahy died after a short illness at Melrose Wakefield Hospital March 26th at the age of 86. Edward was born and raised in Newport RI, graduated from Rogers High School in Newport. After high school he went to embalming school in New York and worked for Monahan Funeral Home in Providence RI. He entered WWII and served in the Army as a Captain in the infantry. Ed was a life member of the National DAV. When he came out of the service he worked as a food service executive as an Institutional Sales Manager working for Whitings Milk of Charlestown for 20yrs and then for the Dairylea Food Service Corp. in NY for 5yrs. He was a former board member of the Massachusetts Hotel & Restaurant Assoc., a former member of the Knights of Columbus in RI where he was a 4th degree knight and Edward also did volunteer work for the Home for Little Waunderers. He has been married to his wife Dorothy for 60yrs. They lived in Wellesley for 17yrs, NY for 5yrs, Centerville for 13yrs and the past 10yrs in Melrose. He was the husband of Dorothy G. (Reynolds) Fahy. Father of Suzanne L. Fahy of Washington DC and Joyce R. Fahy-Laundre & her husband Glenn of Melrose. Brother of Christopher Fahy of CT and the late John, Gilbert, Frederick and Frances Fahy. Grandfather of Katherine F. & Jessica F. Laundre. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thurs. March 29th at 9AM. Funeral mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. There are no visiting hours. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Most Blessed Sacrament Church Building Fund 11 Grove St. Wakefield 01880.
