Edward A. Gnecco, 72, died atWhidden Memorial Hospital, Everett, after a brief illness. Born and raised in Malden, he had been an Everett resident for over 20 yrs before moving to Melrose 30 yrs ago. Edward was an Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, a 34 years veteran of the Everett Police Dept and retired in 1994 with rank of Detective. For the past 3 years he was an administrator in the Veterans Affairs Office at Everett City Hall. Father of Karen Gnecco of Worcester. Grandfather of T. C., Jack & Maggie Mulhern. Son of the late Augusta and Carmella (Garbarino) Gnecco. Special friend of Andrea Barry and her family of Stoneham. Brother of the late Evelyn May. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St Melrose on Wed Feb 19 at 7 PM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours prior to the funeral service from 4 to 7 PM.
