Edward I. Lloyd passed away at Glen Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Malden, on May 15th, he was 76. Ed was born and raised in Melrose, was a graduate of Melrose High School Class of 1946, where he played baseball & hockey. He was a WWII Army Veteran. Mr. Lloyd worked for the maintenance department of Melrose Public Schools for over 15 years, owned and operated L&R Sunoco on Lebanon St. in Melrose for over 10 years, managed the Melrose Car Wash and owned Delaney & Lloyd Mobil Gas Station on Grove St. in Melrose for a number of years. Edward was a lifelong resident of Melrose, enjoyed playing & managing in the over 40 softball league in Melrose and was an avid bowler in the Rotondi Bowling League in Malden. Mr. Lloyd was a lifetime member of the VFW Harold O Young Post # 2394 in Melrose and a member of the Melrose Fish & Game Club. He was the husband of the late Doris F. (Gallant) Lloyd. Father of Elizabeth A. Dellus & her husband Michael of Saugus, Eileen M. Lyle & her husband Michael, John C. Lloyd & his wife Anne and the late Edward J. Lloyd & his wife Sharon all of Melrose. Brother of the late Chief Robert T. Lloyd & his wife Ann of Melrose. Grandfather of Samantha & Michaela Dellus and Nicole & Jessica Lloyd. Loving companion to Heather Marino of Malden. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs. May 19th, at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 3-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. WWII Army Veteran.
