Edward P. McCarthy, of Melrose, died at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Oct. 30, 2013 at the age of 79. Eddie was born & raised in Melrose and attended Melrose Schools & Northeastern University. He had a very strong work ethic and worked for over 35 years as a Manager for Raytheon in Andover before his retirement at the age of 59. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Ed loved fishing & taking his wife dancing. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Wakefield, NH and Cape Cod. The most important part of his life was his family & spending time with his grandchildren. He was the beloved husband of Marie A. (Doucette) McCarthy for 56 years. Loving father of Donna Corsaut & her husband James of NH, Judy Hunt of Stoneham, Edward McCarthy, Jr., & his wife Cindy, Richard McCarthy, all of Melrose, Cheryl McCarthy & her partner Steven Irons of NH and the late Daniel McCarthy. Caring brother of Gerald McCarthy & his wife Jean of Melrose, George McCarthy & his wife Valerie of NH, Carolyn Love & her husband Lenny of Lynn, Robert McCarthy & his wife Faith of NJ, Evelyn Drago of CO and the late Betty Adam. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. A Funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, Nov 4th at 12PM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Sunday from 2-6PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Korean War Veteran.
