Edward D. Shea passed away at the Golden Living Center in Attleboro, on Friday, January 23, 2009. He was 88 years of age. Ed was born in Fall River, raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High Scholl, Class of 1936. He lived in Melrose for over 40 years, Dedham for 10 years and moved back to Melrose in 2001. Mr. Shea worked as a postal clerk for over 40 years, 10 of the years in Melrose and retired in 1994 without ever taking a sick day. He was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran and a longtime member of St. Mary's Church. Ed enjoyed watching the Red Sox, playing golf, dancing with his wife, music, reading and playing cards. Mr. Shea is the husband of the late Katherine (Regan) Shea. Father of Brian Shea & his wife Angela of Attleboro, Barbara McDonnell & her husband Russell of Malden, Christopher Shea & his wife Beverly of Boxborough and Trish Westover & her husband Larry of Nashua, NH. Grandfather of Brendan, Matthew and Brandon. Brother of the late William & Raymond Shea. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tues. Jan. 27th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8PM.
