Edward J. Urquhart passed away at the Winchester Hospital, on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the age of 67. Mr. Urquhart was born in Boston on January 10, 1943 to the late Charles & Anna (Smith) Urquhart. He was raised in West Roxbury, graduated from Roslindale High School, Northeastern University and received his masters from Babson College. Ed lived in Stoneham for 28 years and Tewksbury for the past 4 years. Mr. Urquhart worked as a sales manager in the material installation business for over 30 years, several of those years he worked for Eastern Refractory in Burlington. After his retirement he worked part time as a hall monitor at Stoneham High School for many years, a job he truly loved. Edward was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing & skiing and loved the times spent during the summer on Lake Wentworth in Wolfeboro, NH. Mr. Urquhart was a longtime member and past president of Somerville Rotary and was a member of the Prospect Lodge of Masons in Westwood. Ed truly enjoyed the times spent with his family and was extremely close to his nieces & nephews. He was the beloved husband of 32 years to Janet M. (Garipay) Urquhart. Loving brother of Frances Gilmartin of Stoughton and the late Charles W. Urquhart. Devoted brother-in-law of Peter & Maurine Garipay of Melrose, Joseph & Carol Carilli of Wolfeboro, NH and Paul & Pat Garipay of Aurora, CO. Also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, family & friends. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Ed will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday Sept. 27th, at 10:30AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation Sunday from 3:00-7:00PM. Interment at Highland Cemetery in Dover, MA will be private.
