Edwin J. Eddie Cargill Jr., of Wakefield, formerly of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Jan. 27, 2006 at the age of 59. Eddie was born & raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1966. He worked as a machinist for the Wakefield Corp. in Wakefield for over 32 years, as a custodian for St. Maria Gorettis Church in Lynnfield for 20 years and part time for Stop & Shop in Stoneham. Eddie loved baseball, bowling and especially spending time with his family & his granddaughters. He was the beloved husband of Jean E. (Griffin) Cargill. Loving father of Karen M. Garland & her husband Christopher of Peabody, Diana C. Cargill-Rajoo & her husband Murali and Pamela A. Camponescki & her husband Kevin, all of Wakefield. Cherished grandfather of Hayley & Abigail. Caring brother of Ernest, Robert, Donald, James, Beverly, Lawrence and John Cargill, Maureen Lucey, Janet Miller, Denice Greski, Dorothy Pinkham and JoAnn Galiatsatos-Cargill. Devoted son in law of Mary Griffin. Also survived by many brother in laws, sister in laws and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday Feb.1st at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Josephs Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives & friends. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8PM.
