Eileen M. (Muse) Voigt passed away at Bear Hill Nursing Center on the Stoneham/Wakefield line, Wednesday, July 22, 2009. She was 86 years of age. Mrs. Voigt was born in Malden to the late John & Alma (Comeau) Muse, was raised in Malden, graduated from Malden High School and has been a Melrose resident for the past 60 years. During WWII she worked as an overseas operator for the New England Telephone Company for 8 years and then for the Degree of Honor Insurance Company in the late 40's and early 50's. After raising her family, Eileen worked in the kitchen at the Northeast Regional Vocational School in Wakefield for 1 year, the Melrose Junior High School for a few years and at Melrose High School as the head cook for over 10 years. Mrs. Voigt was always there to take care of a family member, neighbor or friend in need. She loved to spend time with her family and has been a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose. Eileen was the devoted wife of the late Edwin O. Voigt. Loving mother of Stephen Voigt & his wife Joanne of Kingston, NH & the late Karen E. Voigt. Beloved grandmother of Sarah, Katie & Kristen Voigt. Caring sister of Loretta Mullane of Melrose and the late Herbert Muse, Richard Muse & Lorraine Grigas. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, Melrose, on Monday July 27th, at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Family & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
