Elaine F. Swindlehurst died at the Center for Optimum Care in Wakefield on Monday morning April 2nd after a lengthy illness at the age of 75. Elaine was born in Boston, she was raised in Lynn and Malden, graduated from Melrose High Class of 1944, and had been a Melrose resident for the past 60 yrs. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Malden and Past President of the Women's Republican Club and Co-Ordinator of it's Fashion Shows in the 1980's. She was also Past Worthy Matron of the Melrose Chapter of the Rainbow. She was the wife of Wilfra L. Swindlehurst. Mother of Sharon M. Slifer of Shelbyville, IN, Peter G. Swindlehurst of Portland ME., Andrew L. Swindlehurst of Melrose and Laurie A. Frank of Melrose. Grandmother of Genevieve, Cameron, & Rayna Frank. Funeral Services will be held in the First Congregational Church 184 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday April 6 at 11 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurday in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose 7 - 9 pm. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
