Eleanor I (Demers) Kapelos passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, on November 30, 2006. Eleanor was born in Fitchburg and raised in Worcester. After graduating from school, she entered the US Army Corps Medical Division and served at Fort Devans during WWII. Mrs. Kapelos worked as an airline stewardess for National Airlines based out of Miami. As a businesswoman, she was co-owner of James Realty & Insurance Company of Melrose for many years with her late husband James Kapelos. Eleanor lived in Dana Point, California for 7 years and worked as an administrative assistant to the Dean of Saddleback College. She was a longtime resident of Melrose, she enjoyed the theater and singing, rating & eating good food and spending time with her daughters. Eleanor was the wife of the late James G. Kapelos. Mother of Karen I. Kapelos-Leonard & her husband Stephen of Arlington, Christine M. Smith & her husband Robert of Winthrop, Cindy J. of Arlington, Sheryl A. Kapelos & Kim K. Kapelos both of TX. Sister of Irene Holladay of CA, Ernest DeMers of Leominster, Donald DeMers of Marlborough, Edward DeMers of FL & the late Robert DeMers. Grandmother of Jacquelyn, Brianna, Francisco, Kristin, Vanessa & Vincent. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday Dec. 4th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 3rd, from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
