Elizabeth J. (O'Neil) Contreas passed away at the Hearthstone Alzheimer's Care in Woburn, on Tuesday, February 12, 2008. She was 91 years of age. Born in Melrose to the late John & Mary (Kerr) O'Neil, she was raised in Melrose and graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School & St. Mary's High School. Elizabeth was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Melrose, an excellent seamstress and enjoyed embroidering. Mrs. Contreas was a longtime member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church, was involved in the PTA at the Whittier and Franklin Schools and was a loving wife and mother. Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late John Contreas Jr. Loving mother of E. Jane Contreas of Weatogue, CT and Marilyn Contreas of Melrose. Sister of the late William, Evelyn, David, John O'Neil, Martha Doucette & Mary Oatman. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, Feb. 15th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield, at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8PM.
